Let the gamer beware, Forsake this game!

Condolences, dear seekers, for Perfect World Entertainment's Forsaken World (formerly "Project EM"/PEM), MMORPG. This site was once filled with hope, but now serves as a warning to gamers with even the slightest glimmer of interest.

Forsaken World has been released in "Open Beta", and brings SHAME to PWE and it's parent Company, PWB (Perfect World Beijing). FW is a Flagship of Corporate Greed, and Poor Craftsmanship..

"Come, mourn with me! Practice well your Dirges, your Nocturnes, and your Vespers! Come grieve with me, Dark Children, and together we shall conduct a Grand Funeral, scored in blood!"

We shall hunt elsewhere for the promises left unfulfilled by this Forsaken World.

Chinese Beta date Announced! Fashions, Magic Pet Training

Well, seekers, if you've been scouring the 'net, and reading blogs like Vahrna's , or Cinderboy's, then you already know that Beta will begin on the Chinese servers March 25th!, which is approximately one month away.
Be sure to read up at the above links, to scrutinize for yourself.

Now, on to other news of the day. Starting off with 'fashions'.
In Forsaken World, each of the 5 races of Grand Mundo will have styles that reflect their ethnic and occupational positions, inspired from some of the more visually impressive periods of history. What I would like to know is if there will be "costume" slots, to change the 'look', without changing stats. We'll find out, won't we? Let's see the pretty pixels...

 Flowery Elves
Baroque Dwarfs. (If it ain't Baroque, don't fix it!)

Vamps- Heavy Metal Gothic FTW! (Really, *how* can you compete with that?)
The "Legacy of Kain" shall continue with me.

a wild, hunter-ethic Giant

A Byzantine Human
And, knowing the near limitlessness of Forsaken World's customizations, it may be difficult to find "someone who looks like you". The attention to details never fails to impress me.

On to the next topic..

"Magic Pet development"

Well, if you've been following for any length of time, you know that there are "regular" pets than can be obtained, and there are "Soul Pets", rare drops that require specific skillsets to capture. Once you have them, you'll want to maximize their effectiveness, right? Of course you will. Forsaken World will have a "Soul Pet College" that you can send your rare pet to, (and you don't have to worry about them bringing home a mountain of dirty laundry!)
Of the dozens of Soul Pets, they can be broken down into two rough categories: "Attack" and "Support". With the proper training and refinement, your pet can potentially develop into an Uber partner, a companion for which to dominate your opposition in Grand Mundo, whether it be PvE or PvP. As with all things, "what you get out of it depends on what you put into it."

"Habitat Valley" 2

"Habitat Valley" 3..with a Soul Pet.

Magic Pet Instructor. (Don't tell him the dog ate your homework)

Yes, there will be mounts

Wow. *so* much to cover today! Let me first start off by directing you to Cinderboy's Blog, because he has a great new article up. Some of it stuff we've covered here, but he's a professional journalist, and explains things a lot better than I do. Also there's a translated post HERE, covering this history of the Human Dynasty of Forsaken World, (with pictures). And THIS post covers the multiple jobs one can train in, with hints that a player can develop ALL of them, in time.(also, with pictures). And NEW VIDEO (Thanks to Asfer/ PW forums). This is video from the Internet Cafe "tests", recently. Mostly inteview, but a good bit of in-game play.

But, it's probably today's post title that has you curious. Mounts. "Rideable Pets".Whatever you wanna call them. Nowadays a MMO isn't a MMO without some way to get your avatar across the virtual landscape in style, and wow, does FW promise to deliver. Let's take a look, shall we?

Unicorn

Velociraptor

Mechanized

Horse

Nightmare

Jaguar

Well, there's the concepts for you. There's no data, at the moment, whether these mounts are racially specific, or if it's "ride what you like"/

Now DO NOT "carve into stone" my next words, because I don't trust machine-translated Chinese, but THIS post hints that there is *another* category, The "sacred animal"

Details are sketchy, atm, but the post hints that there are certain "legendary" pets that can also be mounts. from the post:

To see so many of the animal that makes blood boil, do you want in the "Cauldron mainland" to find one, as their magic pet or horse to war the world?  Whether animal that as your fighting partner or horse, all players will inevitably lead to numerous onlookers admired.  But, after all, animal that is too scarce, and most of which exist in the inaccessible corners of the map, find them very difficult. Even if we find animal that, if not reach the strength of God, it is difficult to surrender them.  So, enter "Cauldron mainland", the most important thing is to enhance its strength. Of course, if you really want to choose the easy way, wanted to seize an animal that strength is not enough, then, to ensure your good karma is the key, and only friends are risking death to help you, oh you have the likelihood of success.

It looks like having one of the "Sacred Animal" is going to be an Epic Task, all in itself. Let's take a look at them, shall we?

Big Lizzard

Plumed Serpent

Winged Basilic

"Eagle Mito"

EDIT: According to Cinderboy, the above 4 are not "sacred animals", but standard mobs. And thus is Google Translate chastised for helping me make myself look stupid. ( Original translation page) .

More on Pets, screenshots, weapons

Well, since we already covered "there will be pets", more data has filtered through on the Chinese forums. Apparently there will be "regular" pets that you can capture, (and they seem to have put some work into it), but, unless I'm reading this wrong, there is a second type of pet, a "Soul Pet".(with screenshots), which is a rare drop from a mob kill? the "Soul Pet Capture Magic" is a learnable skill, and requires some level of "refinement". Apparently, you can train these up by sending them to a "Soul Pet College". From what I've read, these pets are *highly* interactive, requiring care, rewards, 'punisment' (for misdeeds), and just general attention to keep it from being bored. Can you say "Tamagotchi-to-the-max"?

"I shall name you Raziel!"

Also, a bit about weapons, (also with screenshots). With the "Infinite System", it seems that they will not only  glow,(at +6) but change shape, as well. "Some of the weapons under the cultivation of the master, or even be able to continuously change the shape, bringing the master endless surprises."

It seems that the weapons, across several grades(white, blue, orange, purple,(yellow=boss copy drop?) ect), will require "refinement", as well, whether it be via player-based skill level, or investment in the individual weapon itself, (looking like more of the latter). Time will tell. One thing is for sure, is the customization features of this game seem to be reaching far into Epic proportions, (and 'epic' is not a word I bandy about casually). And the idea of 'crosses' as a vamp weapon? Wicked intuitive, to me, (and it looks really cool, as well!)

Tell me she's not attractive.
( she's also my new desktop background )

Well, we all have our 'crosses to bear', and I for one, am not gonna be to heavily burdened about it.

"Really, it's not as heavy as it looks"
