Let the gamer beware, Forsake this game!

Condolences, dear seekers, for Perfect World Entertainment's Forsaken World (formerly "Project EM"/PEM), MMORPG. This site was once filled with hope, but now serves as a warning to gamers with even the slightest glimmer of interest.

Forsaken World has been released in "Open Beta", and brings SHAME to PWE and it's parent Company, PWB (Perfect World Beijing). FW is a Flagship of Corporate Greed, and Poor Craftsmanship..

"Come, mourn with me! Practice well your Dirges, your Nocturnes, and your Vespers! Come grieve with me, Dark Children, and together we shall conduct a Grand Funeral, scored in blood!"

We shall hunt elsewhere for the promises left unfulfilled by this Forsaken World.

I will Forsake this world

DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH FORSAKEN WORLD

Update: "Forsaken World" is out, in "Open Beta", and it has proven itself to be THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT from PWE, EVER.

Words can hardly describe how crestfallen I am, that this 'next best thing' is a worm-ridden poison apple, on a decaying tree, only the biggest of a growing string of corporate failures.

Never, and I mean NEVER in all my gaming years have I seen a game so inherently cash-shop greedy. It's appalling. Already, at level 32, I have spent (willingly, admittedly) approximately $200 USD, and have precious little to show for it. It's been estimated that maxing out certain attributes can cost up $4,000. No, that's not a typo, FOUR THOUSAND. And that's only ONE of SEVERAL attributes.

And the game engine, itself? "Pretty", yes, undeniably, but rife with errors, untranslated texts (like the ENTIRE 'encyclopedia') . Bugs galore. I would expect this kind of 'quality' in an early Phase 1 Closed beta, but in an "open" beta (with working cash shop)? That's not "open", that's downright abominable. The fact that PWE puts it's name on this digital collection of garbage says more about the company's reputation than any glossy advertising campaign could ever fix. PWE, thy name is Shoddy Worksmanship. Your Mother Company should hang it's head in shame, that they've tarnished the PW family thus.

This game, rushed to market after much fanfare, aimed very high, and missed the mark, entirely. It is the Flagship in a disturbing trend from PWE, whose quality control, and outright greed have slipped so dramatically over the years, that it has become the Hallmark of a Fall from Grace.

You need not take my word for it, see for yourself on the FW Forums. Look at the SCORES of people who echo these same sentiments.

PWE , YOU HAVE DISHONORED YOURSELF, YET AGAIN.

I will no longer claim 'fandom' for a Company that repeatedly fails to deliver on it's promises. It's become readily apparent that the real power resides in China, alone, and that any word originating from elsewhere is Public Relations smoke and mirrors.  The raw ineptitude of such an established company simply boggles the mind.

You promised so much, but delivered so little.

Well, got a random alert in my gMail today, for a video transferred from YouKu to YouTube, about the Stoneman's starting area. Interesting to watch, but "what's with that hair?".If you check the poster's other offerings, there's more FW to be seen, so "Thank you, Sherry425Narturo"

Vamp starting area video

With special thanks to Kitanishi from the Forsaken World Forums for pointing it out. A brand new Kindred 'sin, stalking out of the castle, under a full moon, taking on some wolves. Nice music.

You can see the video HERE.

Well, it looks like I at least got this one right. Twilight Castle...hmmm..I *really* hope the vamps don't *sparkle*.
Blogger.com is currently experiencing graphic issues, system wide, post will be re-checked at a later time. My apologies.

Houston, we have a problem.

(sorry, really couldn't resist using that title)

Well, seekers, I have to apologize to you. After infiltrating PAX, and spending the day immersed in cutting-edge geekdom, I found myself 50 feet, one door, and one line of geeks from getting to QforQ. So, even though the day turned out well (overall), I have to give myself a :

I was actually quite surprised to see Perfect World was NOT represented with a booth at PAX, especially with all the great stuff coming down the line.
I was, however, impressed with the nVidia 3d card and glasses kit, which added some 'pop' to the games on display. I got to chat a bit with G4 TV's Adam Sessler, chatted over a coffee with DJ 'Doc' and crew from Split Infinity Radio, Listened to VGO live, and some other fun stuff.
I'm getting much too old for these kinds of events, where there were more Nintendo DSi's than Blackberrys.

Rows and rows of complimentary bean-bag cushions to crash on. (If ever there's a homeless shelter for geeks, it would have looked like the second and third floor hallways) . And , omg, the 'queues'. Lines for *everything*.

Overall, the day was "okay".
